How Much Do You Love Me

After the much longer piece I just completed this entry felt almost easy by comparison. I was attempting to match the style of Hills Like White Elephants. Obviously it won’t be comparable, but at the very least it was an exercise in trimming away the fat and leaving only the essential phrases and words necessary to communicate what I intended. For the most part I believe I succeeded.

Ascending, Descending

As I said in the previous post, this is the longest piece of fiction I have ever produced. I finished at around 12,252 words! Insanity! I would love some feedback on how it reads, but I guess that would mean that someone would have to accidentally stumble across the site and accidentally read it and accidentally comment on it in a meaningful fashion. Which is another way to say that I won’t get any feedback on it for quite a long time. That’s fine, I really enjoyed producing it.

This story is definitely influenced by Snow Crash, Roadside Picnic, and Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom. I have some half-written posts for the latter two stories that are similar to my post on Snow Crash that should be finished in the next two weeks or so. I’ll give you a few guesses as to what I have been reading lately.

You’ve Got to Run Without Sleep

No idea where this came from, to be honest. I really like the idea behind it, but not the execution.

Untitled Party Exercise

This is a writing assignment that I assigned myself. It took maybe ten hours from start to finish. I feel as if I over-edited it, so I really don’t like large portions of it.

Dialog Attempt #1

This was something I created as a writing exercise. I really only gave it one edit. I like how it turned out, even if it has a few flaws. It is a good first effort.
